Aussie banks look strong

The Australian banking system is strong enough to weather the current problems affecting the global financial system says the Reserve Bank of Australia. The Treasurer Wayne Swan says Australian lenders have not eroded lending standards as much as those in the USA and other countries. Australian non-conforming loans (bad debts) are still below 1 per cent of all outstanding debts said Mr Swan.
